My First Wedding

And no, this isn't a confession where I admit that I was secretly a teenage bride a la Janet Jackson. I shot my first wedding this weekend!

Our good friends Nick and Jess got married this weekend. They asked Tom  to be a groomsman, and they asked me to be the photographer. I was nervous, because I hadn't shot a wedding before, but it was a lot of fun, and they loved the sneak peek I put up. I'm still editing the photos (there were so many of them!), but I thought I'd share a few more here for fun :)

Jess carried these dogtags with her bouquet (I believe they belonged to her grandfather). I almost cried seeing them, because they reminded me of my great-great-grandmother's rosary that I carried in my own bouquet, both to honor my family heritage and to honor my grandma, who had been hospitalized two days before the wedding and was unable to come.

Jess really wanted to do a first look, and it totally ended up being my favorite part of the day. It was so special to see the look on their faces when they laid eyes on one another for the first time that day. Plus, Nick cried, which I totally wasn't expecting. It was a beautiful thing.

Jess and the gentlemen. The one with the weird look on his face (upper right) is my husband. He dislikes posed pictures.
What's a wedding full of wrestling-related people without lucha masks? Nick and Jess met because of wrestling (which is actually how Nick and Tom met back in the day), the best man is a wrestler, half the guests were involved with wrestling in one way or another...the wrestling shots were inevitable.

I loved seeing the matron of honor dance with her husband (a groomsmen). They just looked so joyful and happy to be together.

Jess paired her vintage-inspired dress with some vintage pearls.

Jess looked gorgeous. She has her septum pierced, and she was debating whether or not she should leave it in, but I'm glad she did. She looks so much more herself with it in.

They both cried during the ceremony (which I'm sure Tom will never let me forget, because he likes to bring up that I didn't cry at our wedding). Nick was just starting to tear up here.

It was so much fun to shoot their wedding, and I'm so glad that they asked me to! I had a great time, got some wedding experience, and got a few more bookings out of it.

If you want to check out a few more pics, you can do so here.
